The Lake Tahoe California Concours d’Elegance was held August 9 and 10 at Obexer’s Boat Company and Marina on the west shore. John L. Hacker Crafts were the marquee boat this year. 2019 marks the 101st anniversary of the original Hacker Boat Company.

From a small beginning and gathering of Tahoe Yacht Club members displaying their boats on the Chamber’s Landing pier on the west shore to a nationally acclaimed judged show that it is today, the Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance is a premier two-day event.

Hosted by the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation, it takes over 80 personal and 125 corporate sponsors to support the event. There are 13 boat entry class categories and over 30 judges come from all over the United States utilizing the nationally acclaimed 100-point judging system and score sheet. In addition, there are 14 perpetual trophies awarded each year.

Over 6,000 spectators attend the two-day event to admire the 52 classic boats on exhibit in the marina, as well as to frequent the exhibitors along the shoreline. It takes 100 volunteers and over 34 exhibit sponsors to ensure the show’s success.

The Concours’ and the Tahoe Yacht Club Foundation’s mission is to help preserve the history of Lake Tahoe and offer grants to maritime-related charitable and cultural organizations including and the Tahoe Maritime Museum, Sierra State Parks Foundation, Thunderbird Lodge Preservation Society, North Lake Tahoe Historical Society, and the Tahoe Community Sailing Foundation
