It was a beautiful day on the Boardman River, Traverse City, Michigan.  The 30th annual Boats on the Boardwalk a great success.  Many visitors in town for the Traverse City Film Festival wandered by the river to admire the boats.  

The headline picture above is of Kirk Smith’s Pipe Dream, a 1942 Century Seamaid. Kirk Smith is from Beulah, Michigan.


Tango was the big winner, Moran Award, Peoples Choice and Best of Show.  Tango is a 1930 28 ft Dodge Water Car powered by a Lycoming V-12. Tango is owned by Kent & Beth Walton, Traverse City, Michigan.

Brent Gatecliff brought his 1942 23 ft. Custom Runabout from Waterford, Michigan. 

Brent is an expert at driving his boat to the trailer.

Twisted Timber is a 1942 10 ft Deluxe Runabout from Walnut Lake, Michigan.  Twisted Timber is owned by Glenn Charest.

Here is a close view of the 1948 Century Resorter Over Dew owned by Phil Ward of Vicksburg, Michigan.

The Hagerty Youth Judges winner Baby Grand is a 1954 28 ft Chris Craft with twin CC KL’s owned by Dick & Ann DeBoer.

Youth Judges for Hagerty Insurance from Water Wonderland youth members and members of Big Brothers and Big Sisters Traverse City select their favorite boats.

  1. BOB was a great boat show, competing with the likes of Michael Moore and Jane Fonda at the Traverse City Film Festival. I would rather look at old boats !
