The Lake Hopatcong Chapter of ACBS held their 44th annual boat show at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club on June 23rd.
Undaunted by a foreboding weather forecast, over forty-five boats filled the docks and land display area of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club for the 44th Annual Boat Show. While some rains did come, all aspects of the show proceeded as usual.
A Barbershop Quartet roamed the area, Boy Scouts assisted in judging, and our ship’s store “WoodyWear” did a land office business.
Faced with a spectacular array of top quality boats, the judges’ challenge was significant, but complete their task they did. Show day culminated with over 150 members and guests assembling for the Awards Dinner. It was a special moment when Executive Director of ACBS, Dan Gyoerkoe, addressed us prior to the awards presentations. Dan was with us for two days and conducted an “all are welcome” meeting on Friday morning that we found most informative and that provided us with an opportunity to share our thoughts and concerns.
The awards presentations then took place. With a “Multiple Awards System”, there were forty-five awards presented. Two 1953 Chris Craft Rockets won Best in Show Restored and Preserved, respectively. Seth and Renee Katz’s rare, show-stopping Plaidtastic won the former with Bob Larson’s Norwegian Wood taking home the latter. 
Best in Show, Non-Wood went to a 1986 Riva, Nabila, owned by Don Ploetner. 
Ladies’ Choice was presented to Genie Wiss for Bella, her 1958 Lyman outboard, and People’s Choice went to Ed Andrews’ 1951 Chris Craft Holiday, Liquid Asset. 
In broad view, it was a great show, notwithstanding the wet weather.
