YES! …and people who love classic boats and boating.
Heartland Classics Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society is the featured chapter of the week. Clicking on Heartland Classics Chapter will take you to more information about this ACBS Chapter.
This chapter’s membership is located mainly in Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska and the adjoining areas, but there are members from as far away as Florida, California, and New York. Why?
- A “coffee table worthy” quarterly publication Mahogany & Chrome edited by Forrest Bryant. It is full of beautiful pictures and helpful information.
- Events that are FUN, each one seeming like a holiday reunion which includes food traditions combined with using our vintage boats.
- Information sharing – by phone calls, work sessions, magazine articles, and an annual winter Restoration Workshop.
In addition to the four annual events, the chapter hosts the Arkansas River Odyssey, a 6 day, 370 mile, 13 lock adventure riding classic boats on Rocky Mountain Snow (melted) from Oklahoma downstream through Arkansas almost to the Mississippi River.
Some of the members’ boats are displayed on the chapter website for the public to view. The display makes it obvious that all types of vintage craft are respected for their historic contribution to the boating community. Each boat has a unique story to tell no matter its construction material or purpose of use.
