The Niagara Frontier Chapter is this week’s Antique and Classic Boat Society’s featured chapter.
As the name implies, most of the chapter’s members live close to Niagara Falls in northwest New York, but also Ontario and nearby states. This active chapter posts this statement on their “Old Boats Buffalo” website:
Their fall workshop is scheduled for November 11th. Members and guests are invited to the Boat Restoration Shop. Interesting topics include:
- Buffalo Maritime Center Bronze Foundry-Henry Schmidt (Artist in Residence)
- Restoring Chrome Boat Parts – Michael Bobick from Niagara Custom Plating
- Painting & Varnishing Topsides with a Dual Roller Technique – Tom Rusert, Rocky Nagel, and Larry Robinson
- Putting White Deck Seam Lines into a Mahogany Deck – Larry Robinson
Earlier in the year, Niagara Frontier Chapter co-sponsors Thunder at the Outer Harbor which features the “Evolution of Race Boats”. This is an annual event in July.Niagara Frontier Chapter has a board meeting every month with all members welcome. They also have their Annual Meeting and Holiday Party scheduled for Dec. 2nd.
54 International Chapters of ACBS
The Antique and Classic Boat Society has 54 Chapters throughout the United States, Canada, and France. ACBS members who affiliate with a home chapter find a group of friends with whom to share boating experiences, boat stories, and the skills needed to maintain and/or preserve and restore their vintage boats. Inevitably, the genuine relationships formed at the chapter level are always mentioned when an ACBS member is asked why they value their ACBS membership.
When you click on the CHAPTERS tab in the menu above, a world map will appear showing the location of the ACBS Chapters. Which one is closest to you? Or maybe there is a chapter near the lake where you vacation that has an event scheduled which you could attend.
Please share information about your chapter. Anyone can do that. You may email pictures and text to kathyparker@acbs.org.
