From the Toronto Chapter

Where will you be on International Vintage Boating Day?

It is coming up next weekend, Saturday, August 19th!

Here are a few planned activities:

Port Cunnington Lodge, Lake of Bays: Weather permitting, cruise Lake of the Bays on your own or in a group in the morning, with the aim to arrive at Port Cunnington Lodge at noon to enjoy a lunch and catch up with friends. Docking space is available, and you can even join us just for the lunch if you are unable to come by boat. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, August 16. Please Contact Port Cunnington Lodge directly at 705-635-2505.

Hastings: Check out the Trent Severn Antique and Classic Boat Association’s vintage boat display at the Hastings Waterfront Festival. See Events – Trent Severn Antique and Classic Boat Association (Trentsevernantiqueboats.ca) for more details.

Gloucester Pool: Contact Scott Dunsmoor at scott.dunsmoor@allweld.ca for more information.

If you have a planned INTERNATIONAL VINTAGE BOATING DAY outing, let us know the route you have planned at ABCS-Toronto (vintage boatingday@acbs.ca)  and ACBS International (lora@acbs.org) and we’ll help spread the word.

If you’d like to create your own event:

  • Take the lead to plan a route on a nearby waterway.
  • Choose a common starting point or arrange to meet in one location at the end of the trip.
  • Choose locations that are easily accessible to a number of people with a minimum of trailering.
  • Find somewhere fun to stop along the way – create your own mini vintage boat show!
  • Reach out to fellow vintage boaters in your area.
  • GET OUT ON THE WATER AND HAVE FUN IN A VINTAGE BOAT!!!!

Remember the ACBS International Chapter Development Committee has created a photo contest! Be sure to check out ACBS International Vintage Boating Day – Photo Contest for more details. We are hoping for images from Canadian, American, and European members.
