By Chris and Julie Bullen, members of ACBS.

Being an active member of the ACBS sure has its fun built in. You meet the nicest people. As a result we headed down I69 to Algola Indiana eh! Thanks to Jeff & Jan for encouraging Mike & Nancy to join our Blue Water Michigan Adventure last summer. This year we were invited by them to come down to go to their boat show on Lake James. It turns out that not only are Mike & Nancy fabulous hosts they are awesome boat show chairs. They started the show 9 yrs ago and it has grown each year. This year a record number of boats with over 70 antique and classics, over 100 antique cars, wonderful vendors, food and live music made the day great.

Lead Boat on Lake Wawasee
Touring Lake Wawasee

The Indiana chapter of ACBS and Lake James are lucky to have them. Our adventure started in the largest natural lake in the state – Wawasee Lake. We trailered our boats through the cornfields and all the 90 degree turns around the farm fields. We toured the lake and narrow canals with a wonderful lunch on the water at Oakwood Inn. Thank you Luke and his Riva for being our tour guide.

Day two found us on Lake James with it’s three basins as well as connecting lakes of Snow and Big Otter. We enjoyed a lunch stop with box lunches at Pokagon State Park. After lunch and a short tow of one of the classics back to her home dock we boated Jimmerson lake up to Nevada Mills with a fun evening dinner back at Mike & Nancy’s enjoyed by many members of the chapter.

Day Three was the boat show day and Mother Nature was good to us. Thank you Mike & Nancy and the Indiana chapter for being wonderful hosts and giving us an awesome first visit to your state.
