From the Mid-Atlantic Chapter

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society in co-operation with the Historic Bristol Borough proudly invites you to our First Annual Judged Show, Mahogany and Steel, to be held on the historic Bristol, PA, waterfront. The event will take place on July 9th form 10:00 A.M. thru 4:00 P.M.  at Historic Bristol Park, located at Mill & Radcliff Streets, Bristol, PA 19007. This freshwater venue is conveniently located north of Philadelphia and is easily accessed from Burlington, New Jersey.  Classic boat rides will be offered to the public as well as a personally narrated history of Burlington Island by our own Diane Allen.

In addition to the boat show, the Bristol Cultural and Historic Foundation, the “BCHF,” will be sponsoring a Car Show featuring Classics, Retro Mods, Antiques, and a few Exotics.

Having an event at this location also provides access to the many eateries located along Bristol’s historic streets all of which offer treats to delight the palate from early morning to late night. For those shoppers among you, wandering around the Historic area offers a diverse assortment of gift and antique shops for your browsing (and purchasing) pleasure. There’s really something for everyone in Bristol on July 9th!

The goal for the Show is to get 50 or more boats between our Mid-Atlantic Chapter and member boats from other ACBS clubs. We are hoping folks from Lake Hopatcong, Harvey’s Lake, and the Chesapeake Bay Chapters will come over for the day. The grounds offer ample land display area, including 50 feet of dock space, with a very favorable tide. Participants who launch from the Neshaminy Launch site can enjoy a very scenic 4-mile cruise going North along the Delaware River to Bristol Wharf.

The Awards Banquet will be held at the King George II Inn (5:00 P.M.) which is located on the show grounds. Scheduling allows ample time to hitch your trailered boat before or after the awards dinner.

  1. Predicted bad weather forced the Mid-Atlantic Chapter to reschedule to the raindate, Sunday the 10th., but the weather was beautiful the following day. I hope this becomes an annual event, because it was a great location and an excellent day thanks to the event chairman, Carmen DeLeo and his crew.
