In 2005, my late wife and I bought the 1958, 22′, Century Raven, which we appropriately named Reminisce, remembering the same model boat my parents owned back in the 50’s when I was in my late teens. From Chicago, my folks traveled the Great Lakes, and the Mississippi River in the comfort of the solid African mahogany boat with a cuddy cabin. My wife and I loved to boat the Canadian waters between Vancouver Island and the mainland. Though we had owned many small wooden boats (and some fiberglas) before, we never had one adequate to manage the challenges of the Strait of Georgia on stormy days. Somewhat rare, I found this one for sale on line in Ontario, Canada so we traveled from Oregon to test, purchase, and drive via the Canadian highway home to our lake house in the foothills of the Cascades.
