My 1964 Glasspar Seafair Sedan was purchased from my “Grandpa”, Jack Armistead, whom we fondly refer to as Salty. While boating with our friends on the California Delta, Jack invited us aboard his Seafair for a cruise. Little did I know, Jack was looking to sell his Seafair and I was the intended buyer. I instantly fell in love with the blue boat and cuddy cabin. Captaining the ship merely sealed the deal. I became the proud owner of this boat in November 2018 and named him “Salty” after Grandpa Jack.
The Salty is our only saltwater boat and has opened up new boating experiences. My husband, Alex, and I have explored the San Francisco Bay, Santa Monica Bay, Los Angeles Harbor, Newport Beach, and San Diego. We have proudly shown the Seafair at multiple ACBS SoCal gatherings.
My most memorable moment with the Seafair was when Alex and I coordinated our wedding on the same weekend of the 2019 Lake Arrowhead Boat Show. The intention was to have friends and family enjoy the boat show, meet ACBS members, and have our his and hers boats featured in our wedding pictures. We have been members of the ACBS since 2014 and this was the perfect unique experience we wanted for our wedding. Our friends and family enjoyed the experiences we are often spoiled with as members of ACBS SoCal Chapter. Whether it was walking the docks, appreciating the classic wood and fiberglass boats, taking rides around the lake, or attending the awards dinner, all aspects of that weekend were so special. It was a perfect boating weekend and we saved the best for last. Alex and I held our wedding on the final day and it was a day we’ll never forget. 6-10-2019
We are looking forward to the many boating adventures to come and are excited to begin a new boating season.
