Sunnyland, a Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, is located in sunny Florida.
Sunnyland Chapter is the largest chapter of ACBS and includes Florida residents and hundreds more who love to participate in vintage boating activities as they visit Florida in the winter. There are many reasons to be a member of Sunnyland – one of them is because of their great quarterly publication “Sheerline” edited by Kurt Rothe.
The BIG Sunnyland Festival is coming soon – March 22-25 – at Tavares, Florida on the shore of Lake Dora.
This is the chapter’s annual show, traditionally one of the biggest vintage boat shows in the world. All boats entered will be on land this year so you can really get up-close-and-personal with these gorgeous entries. Adding to the “Beach Party Festival” atmosphere will be a flea market (need a matching cleat, new old anchor, wall decor, a new old boat, yards of line, you-name-it, it will be there), fair food, a Field of Dreams (classic boats for sale), ACBS Symposiums, Style Show, SCAMPY demonstrations, Beach Bands, and PEOPLE! If you go once, you’ll make it a tradition. See you there!
Enjoy cruising with a group of ACBS boaters on the St. Johns River before or after the Sunnyland Festival.
Also, a tradition and a must-do on every boaters’ bucket list is taking part of the St. Johns River Cruise – at least once, if not more. Arrangements to transport vehicles and trailers, plus lodging and meals are planned for you.
Sunnyland Chapter is active all year. There are many restorers, both professional and hobbyist, who continually share skills and “elbow grease” to work on preserving and restoring boats. Take a look here at their posted schedule just for the next few months.
Sunnyland Chapter also benefits their community with a philanthropy program and the mentoring of youth to develop life-skills related to building and restoring boats. SCAMPY stands for “Sunnyland Chapter Apprentice Mentoring Program for Youth”. It has involved youth and their families since 2009. Since 2013, they are also supportive of AMIKids-JAX, Associated Marine Institute, Jacksonville, FL.
