The Antique and Classic Boat Society recognizes with appreciation the Tahoe Maritime Center – Museum and Gardens for their support as an Associate Member.
The Tahoe Maritime Center is located in Tahoe City, California. They are also members of the Northern California/Lake Tahoe Chapter of ACBS. The Museum was the venue for the welcome reception for the 2016 ACBS International Annual Meeting and Boat Show.
“The Tahoe Maritime Center – Museum & Gardens provides a unique cultural experience where the Lake Tahoe regional maritime heritage is preserved, enjoyed, and passed along to future generations through innovative interpretation and public education.”
The Center offers Sunday boat rides. This year’s featured boat is Star Dust.
Star Dust is one of Lake Tahoe’s most famous ride boats. She was used extensively by Fred Kehlet and his family to take the public for rides from their resort at Meeks Bay, CA.
In 1992, Star Dust won the Best of Show award at the Tahoe Yacht Club’s Concours d’Elegance for her owner John Wickland III. She was purchased by Tom and Polly Bredt in the fall of 2002 and donated to the Center in 2004.
Another program offered by the Tahoe Maritime Center is a program to build a wooden stand-up paddleboard in a week. A new class begins in September.
Their educational programs are extensive beginning with weekly pre-school programs, then field trips for visiting schools and youth groups. They have boating safety classes for both adults and children.
The Antique and Classic Boat Society appreciates the extra support given to our organization by Associate Members. Click here to see this year’s list of Associate Members.
