From Pam Gratzer Bornholdt – Commodore Wine Country Classics
On September 13th members from the Wine Country Classic Boat (WCCB) Chapter of ACBS based in Hammondsport, NY departed for their Annual Fall Boat Cruise.
This year’s trip was to Muskoka Lakes region in Ontario, Canada, a 300+ mile trip. Muskoka is what we dubbed the “Wooden Boat Capital of Canada”.
Thanks to help and hospitality from several Canadian ACBS members we cruised several days on Lake Muskoka and Lake Rosseau while enjoying the spectacular homes, boats, food and weather.
For the past 30+ years WCCB has coordinated a trip throughout the Northeast US and Canada every September. These trips draw participants from numerous other ACBS Chapters and are eagerly awaited. Commodore Pam Gratzer Bornholdt did most of the leg work to prepare for the trip and it paid off. We had 22 people and 6 boats. This tradition of towing our boats and exploring myriad locations mostly in the northeast US and Canada has a long history as shown in the table of Fall Boat Cruises (see below).
Members of other ACBS chapters have joined us in the past, we welcome you for 2024 (location TBD).

My wife Beth and I are from the Smith Mountain lake chapter and traveled with the Wine Country Chapter in 2023 for their Lake George trip. Great group of folks and Pam did an amazing job organizing the event.
