We recently wrapped up our own version of “March Madness,” pitting the most legendary vintage boat models against each other in a bracket-style tournament. Over the last several weeks, the community voted, debated, and celebrated the boats that have defined vintage boating – each in their own way.
The Road to the Final Four
Your votes seeded the sixteen iconic contenders that entered the bracket, and each head-to-head matchup sparked lively discussions—some serious, some ridiculous, but all fun. After the opening rounds, the Final Four eventually emerged:
The final four matchups were a showcase of craftsmanship and design:
- Chris-Craft Barrel Back vs. Riva Aquarama: Sleek American curves faced off against Italian elegance. The Barrel Back’s classic lines and timeless appeal propelled it into the finals.
- Chris-Craft Cobra vs. Hacker-Craft Triple: The futuristic fin of the Cobra went head-to-head with the Triple’s bold, classic lines. The Hacker-Craft Triple edged out the Cobra to advance to the championship round.
Championship Round: The Ultimate Showdown
The final showdown featured two of boating’s most recognizable silhouettes: Chris-Craft Barrel Backand Hacker-Craft Triple. Both boats have ardent fans and storied histories, but in the end, the Barrel Back’s semi-circle transom and enduring charm won over the community.
And the Winner Is…
After weeks of voting and spirited debate, the ACBS community has spoken: the Chris-Craft Barrel Back is officially crowned the Most Iconic Vintage Boat of All Time!

Wow! How nice
We are thrilled to see the final results.
Our neighbor on Lake Waubesa has I believe a ’42 Barrel Back. We love to take a cruise around the lake with him. It is well maintained , reliable and always a joy to be in. The waves and smiles from fellow boaters is fun!
