The ACBS Member-only resource library is full of great information. From restorations to the history of the Gold Cup, this free and valuable tool can help you improve your knowledge and skills so that you can tackle those daunting projects.

This week’s feature is about planking a lapstrake and is instructed by Reuben Smith of Tumblehome Boatshop in Warrensburg, New York. Lapstrakes are tricky. With a twisted and contorted shape, you can’t just bolt dimensional lumber onto a hull during a repair or new build. So, how do you pick up that shape and transfer it onto two dimensional lumber?

Reuben covers techniques such as spiling, how to create a scarph joint and when epoxy is most appropriate.
