She came from England. Demeter, a 1926 28’ Taylor & Bates launch was built at a boatyard on the Thames.
Needing a frame up restoration to return to service, Demeter underwent major surgery over two years at Pete Schell’s shop.
The Lake Hopatcong Chapter was privileged to see the before and after with owner, Peter Kellogg, inviting us to a luncheon workshop when the boat was upside down in the framing stages.
Fast forward to June 10, 2018, and we were at the launching of Demeter at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club with Peter Kellogg again inviting us to a sumptuous champagne pig-roast to celebrate the occasion.

Thanks to Cindy Heaton for sending this report by Bob Rice about Demeter. She says, “This is about LHACBS Member Peter Kellogg’s restoration, done by Peter Schell, at his local garage. Peter Schell works on many of Peter Kellogg’s collection and has hosted workshops for our Club at his shop.
Demeter is poised for the next chapter to be written in its history with many years of service lying ahead.
