When this beautiful little 1939 Chris-Craft came into our life we already had a 1956 Mercury that we had restored. The Chris craft was well taken care of but did need a little TLC. It was love at first sight so we had to do some fast work to sell our Mercury.
We have had it for over 13 years now and have enjoyed many a cruise around our Bay and Marinas in Long Beach CA. We sent the hull number in and according to the Archives it is one of 70 produced and as far as we know one of 5 still in existence. And, from what we could find out, possibly could be the only one with a front facing rear seat.
We totally rebuilt the motor, added a new rudder, painted the bottom with the original color boot stripe and refinished it with 7 coats of Re-coat varnish approximately every three years. The hull is original wood.
Unfortunately, age has crept up on us and is difficult to do the sanding and varnishing anymore.
She will find a new home with the right person to maintain her beauty. We will miss this boat and the pleasure we had while owning and maintaining it.
