More about International Vintage Boating Day
National Vintage Boating Day was launched in 2020 by the ACBS Toronto Chapter as a way for boating groups to engage their members in a contactless rendezvous during the pandemic. Boaters gathered safely in seven different venues in Ontario and the United States.
In 2021 and 2022, International Vintage Boating Day participants were able to add more social interaction to their events; these included boxed lunches, BYO picnics, and visits to waterside restaurants. Participants are limited only by the imagination of the organizers.
This event is being heavily promoted for 2023, and events are being planned across North America.
Once again, the goal is to have as many vintage boats as possible on the water at the same time in a variety of locations. No registration is required; just get out on the water with friends and family and celebrate vintage boating!
We invite you to participate in International Vintage Boating Day 2023 on Saturday, August 19. To be part of this exciting event,
- Take the lead to plan a route on a nearby waterway.
- Choose a common starting point or arrange to meet in one location at the end of the trip.
- Choose locations that are easily accessible to a number of people with a minimum of trailering.
- Find somewhere fun to stop along the way – create your own mini vintage boat show!
- Reach out to fellow vintage boaters in your area.
- Get out on the water and have fun!
We hope your group will join in on August 19, and we’d appreciate it if you’d submit your stories and photos after the event to share in Rudder, Classicboat, and other boating publications, as well as on ACBS social media in the US and Canada. Email: lora@acbs.org
