Lake Hopatcong has had a big couple of weeks! With their second summer cruise held on July 16th and a practice wedding run for an engaged couple at the end of June, members have been busy! What better way to enjoy friendships and see a young couple off than in a beautiful vintage boat?

First the summer cruise: Leaving from in front of the Windlass, boats cruised Lake Hopatcong for about 45 minutes before ending at Main Lake Market. After purchasing our ice-cream, they stayed and socialized awhile before heading home.

If you are in the Lake Hopatcong area in August, two more cruises are scheduled this summer. August 7th, leaving from leaving from in front of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, and August 28th, leaving again from in front of the Windlass. Both cruises start at 6:30pm. Check the chapter’s website for more information and for additional cruise dates in the fall.

Next, the pre-wedding cruise:

A few months ago, the Lake Hopatcong ACBS chapter was contacted for help in finding an antique wooden boat to transport a bride and groom from their Lake Forest Yacht Club wedding to their home on Lake Hopatcong. Shortly after sending an email to our club’s membership, Tom and Su McGowan answered the call, graciously offering Lady Mary, a 1931, 22ft, Chris-Craft, triple cockpit and the winner of Best Chris-Craft in our 2025 boat show.

As the wedding day is nearing, Tom and Su thought it would be good to meet the future bride and groom and take a practice run. On June 27th, Tom and Su took Lady Mary for the 20-minute ride to the Lake Forest Yacht Club where they discussed possible poses for the bride and groom and took practice runs for the wedding. We wish the happy couple a success for their August 3rd wedding date and a huge Thank You to Tom and Su for helping to make this dream come true.
