It is officially the start of the boating season! And we are so happy to be back in sunny Tavares, Florida, with our friends at the Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival!
Our ACBS long-weekend in Tavares began with a Chapter Round Table and Board of Directors meeting on Thursday. We are so glad so many people attended both in person and online to take part in the discussions for both meetings. We especially appreciate those members on the West Coast that got up early so they could join the Round Table at 6:00AM PST! Thank you for your dedication and participation. As mentioned at the meeting, the Chapter Development Committee will be putting together a whole bunch of new resources and how-to guides that will be posted under Chapter Resources on the ACBS member portal in the coming weeks. If you have something that your Chapter is currently doing that you feel is a best practice that you want to share with other Chapters please email lora@acbs.org and it will be shared with the Chapter Development Committee to include on the resources page.
Now to the real excitement of the weekend…A Boat Show! Walking through the show grounds today in Wooton Park was a wonderful feeling and what ACBS is all about. Its getting together with folks that share a passion for vintage boating and are simply having fun together. Our ACBS members from all different Chapters make the trip down to Florida for this show, which makes it a wonderful annual gathering but one we have all missed over the last couple of years. You could hear the comments throughout the crowd that there was even more excitement in seeing old friends and getting out on the water together today.
Please enjoy a few images from the day….
We want to thank the Sunnyland Chapter for all of their hard work in organizing such a great show and weekend for us all. What is also special about Tavares is how much the City itself supports the show and the Sunnyland Chapter. They work so closely with the Chapter to make the park, docks and the entire downtown one big festival site, and the people of Tavares and the surrounding area come out to support the show. So thank you also to the City of Tavares!
