The Ernst Family received the 2015 ACBS Gold Outboard Simple Award.
Their 1930 12 ft. boat is powered by a period 24 hp Johnson Seahorse. It has been recognized as the Glen Bucks Originality Award winner. This boat was entered into the class of Outboards without steering. The best part about seeing this boat in the show was listening to and learning from the family’s young son about the boat and how the old motor worked. The Ernst family are members of the Bob Speltz Land-o-Lakes Chapter of ACBS.
Gold Awards are presented to boats that are judged to be worthy of 92 through 96 points. At the 2015 Annual International Boat Show held at Gull Lake, Minnesota, 31 Gold Awards in total were presented to boats in various classes.
