By Jan Lowry, Vice President, Long Island NY Chapter

2021 has been a better year than 2020, but not without its own challenges. Thankfully, our Chapter President, Bob Williams made a great recovery from when he was hospitalized in 2020 with the Corona Virus which almost took his life!

Since our monthly meeting spot at the local library was not yet allowing groups to gather at the facility, we had to figure out something else that could work for our small active group who looks forward to attending the monthly meetings.

Bob Williams and 1st Lady, Judy Campbell graciously offered to host our monthly meetings on their 1963 – 37’ Egg Harbor, “Moonglow”, docked in water at Weeks Yacht Yard in Patchogue, NY. There is ample room for social distancing on this 37’ classic and everyone felt comfortable! The meeting atmosphere is always relaxing on board with good company, snacks and cold beverages.

For our August meeting, Bob and Judy decided to treat the members to something special and take a short cruise out in the Great South Bay. It was a memorable evening for all in a classic boat of this magnitude! For those who wanted the experience of piloting “Moonglow”, Bob supervised and guided each member to have their hand at the wheel……what a thrill!

Bob is quite the expert pilot of this craft and showed his skills of seamlessly operating the controls while turned around at the helm, and backed the boat into the docking area! Now that takes some expertise!

Thanks to Bob and Judy, a wonderful, memorable evening was had by all! This is what the ACBS is all about.
