By Edward Dominiak member of the Niagara Frontier chapter
The Niagara Frontier Chapter held their first annual Outboard swap meet and show.
As with most organizations , we strive to come up with new ideas to both keep our present membership involved and entertained but most importantly to attract new members. It takes communication and planning to set up any event and sometimes when dealing with the interested parties in Old Boats and motors, there is a lot of “phone time” as opposed to email or texting! I am sure this is true with most of the Classic Hobbies of our times.
As an initial event it was well attended. One of the features we included was a class on judging for boat shows. Ewe were fortunate to have Mick Griffin and Tom Greenauer that are current Judges give a walk around presentation of how and what to look for. Studying the workmanship of the past is an important part of being able to notice even the smallest feature that will add or deduct points. We hope to have peaked the interest of a few of those in attendance. Our organization needs new judges! As we do graduate into more use of the social medias, we look to see what other chapters are doing to keep the hobby thriving and growing and hope to contribute as well.
