Michael and Shirley Claudon are Associate Members of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and also members of the Lake Champlain Chapter. ACBS recognizes them with gratitude for their continuing support of our organization. Their business is the Snake Mountain Boatworks located in Weybridge, VT.
In a YouTube video, Michael Claudon tells, with passion, about what started his interest in preserving old boats. His entrepreneurial path in life led him to this endeavor which has become his profession. This is a quote from the Snake Mountain Boatworks website:
Retiring from teaching at Middlebury College has enabled Claudon to create his latest entrepreneurial endeavor, Snake Mountain Boatworks LLC. SMB preserves, restores and repairs antique and classic wooden powerboats in 5,000 square feet of shop that had previously served as the main barn for the commercial sheep operation that he and Shirley, his wife of 42 years, ran from 1976-1990.
Restoring, preserving and repairing these majestic watercraft is so much like doing the same for clocks, albeit on a footprint that is hundreds of times larger. Blessed with his crew of able experts, Claudon is again feeding his passion for trading, for preserving old things, and for meeting and bringing enjoyment to wonderful people.
Taking a side trip to the Snake Mountain Boatworks’ website will give you more information about this company including several videos.
