Tidbits of news drift in for the website.  Here are a few to be shared this week…

The headline picture is of docks filled with gorgeous antique and classic boats.  Not just a dream, but for real.  The photo owned by Dave Bortner of Freedom Boat Service was taken at the 2015 ACBS International Boat Show held on Gull Lake in Minnesota. Host chapter was Bob Speltz Land-O-Lakes.

You’ll be seeing displays similar to this at the 2017 ACBS International Boat Show in just three weeks. The host chapter is Glacier Lakes. The Show will be at Reef Point Marina in Racine, Wisconsin September 8-9, 2017.

The City of Racine is excited about welcoming hundreds of ACBS members and the opportunity to see the entries at the Antique and Classic Boat Society’s premier show of the year.  Real Racine, the Downtown Racine Corporation, has sponsored a citywide art project this year to decorate artistic boats to enhance the beauty and interest of the city.

The 25 boats – all colorfully decorated by local artists – will be on display indoors at 427 Main Street through Friday, Sept. 8.  You’re invited to stop by from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to take a close look – pick out your favorite.  The boats will be auctioned on Saturday (Sept. 9) starting at 10 a.m. as a fundraiser for the Downtown Racine Corporation.

All around the country, ACBS Chapter Boat Shows are going on.  The public comes to see the floating works of art, marvel at the artisanship, and ask questions for themselves.  It’s the perfect time and place to let others know about the benefits of membership.  Here is a picture of a great recruiting team at the Northern California/Lake Tahoe Chapter membership booth at the  45th annual Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance.  Pictured are Tim Bush, ACBS Treasurer, Terry Fiest, Tahoe Concours Chief Judge, and Don Leutz, ACBS Director.

Teri Bush, Northern California/Lake Tahoe Chapter, also sent a few pictures taken at the Concours staged at the historic Obexer’s Boat Company in Homewood, CA., on Lake Tahoe’s beautiful West Shore.  Another dock decked out with gorgeous antique and classic boats.

Crowds came to see the boat races the weekend before the Concours.
