Harveys Lake is in Northeastern Pennsylvania and is the home of an active ACBS chapter, Pennsylvania NE, Harveys Lake. Bill Nash, Russ Taylor and others formed the Harvey’s Lake Chapter in 1982 to serve Harvey’s Lake boaters, and boaters from all over Northeastern Pennsylvania. We now have 60 members.

The chapter has bimonthly dinner get-togethers all year, but during the summer, the boating fun returns with cruises on Harveys Lake. Harveys Lake Annual Show happens every August at the Grotto Marina. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Independent Gazette once described the show as a “hugely popular display of antique and classic wooden boats at Harveys Lake”. The docks are a perfect setting for in-water and land displays of decades-old antique and classic wooden boats that have been restored by their proud owners. Winners of the People’s Choice Award and Ladies Choice Award are chosen by sightseers.” This year, the Chapter’s 33rd show at Grotto Marina will take place on August 9, 2025.

Many chapter members also travel throughout the region to shows and cruises put on by other chapters, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia as well as ACBS International Shows. We also have cruises on Harvey’s Lake almost every Sunday with local members and sometimes members of Mid-Atlantic Chapter and Lake Hopatcong Chapter when we cruise on the Delaware River and on Lake Hopatcong and other rivers and lakes in the area.

We also enjoy bi-monthly dinners and our annual Christmas dinner where we take part in the Grotto Pizza Parade of the Trees. The Parade of Trees is a charitable event that benefits multiple local organizations by decorating Christmas trees and raising funds. The public votes for their favorite tree. The Pennsylvania NE/Harveys Lake Chapter’s charitable organization is the American Cancer Society, and 2024 was their 24th year to take part.
