Elysian was the name applied to the transom of hull 1021 when it was built in 1959. Riva boats, an Italian boat company, built the finest in watercraft, striving for perfection even in the smallest of details. While building other styles, this model is called the Ariston. Ariston means “The Best” and at 21-feet in length, its flowing lines and timeless beauty prove that is true.

Carlo Riva liked big American V-8 engines, so he powered all his boats with them. Elysian has a Chris-Craft converted marine V-8 Chevrolet of 185 hp and it glides effortlessly through the waves. Her features are well appointed, such as gleaming mahogany with chrome hardware that is like jewelry adorning the beautiful varnished Sapele wood surfaces. She also boats a well concealed convertible top, made of Egyptian cotton, and has seating for six in her turquoise interior with Zebra accents.

Brad Sunderland purchased Elysian two years ago. She has not only been rebuilt, but has been restored to exacting specifications and correctness, as originally delivered. And yes, that Zebra interior was the standard factory material in 1959.
