In the coming days and weeks ACBS members will receive both postcards in the mail (pictured above) and emails (pictured below) with information about our upcoming Oral History Project to celebrate the ACBS 50th anniversary. ACBS has contracted with Publishing Concepts (PCI) to assist us with gathering the great stories and photos from our members and chapters which will be collected over the next twelve months. And by this time next year they will be gathered into a wonderful coffee table style book and digital archive. Members will be asked on the phone if they want to purchase book (printed or digital) BUT it is NOT REQUIRED to verify your information or to share your story.
When you are contacted by email or postcard, please call the number to…
1 – Verify that ACBS has your correct contact information. This confirmation will help to ensure an accurate printing of ACBS’ last printed member directory which Headquarters will publish this winter. PCI will not be using or selling your data for anything else, they are just verifying and collecting the information for ACBS Headquarters.
2 – Share your stories with PCI about your time with ACBS, with your Chapter, or with your vintage boat.
- How did you get into vintage boating?
- What has been one of your most memorable events with your Chapter?
- What life long friends have you met through ACBS?
- What is your boat’s name and how did you find it?
Plan to tell the folks at PCI all of your great stories. They will be collecting them and transcribing them and producing the Oral History Project book. In the end ACBS will own the book and all the contents, which helps us preserve the history of our great organization into the future.
With our 50th Anniversary just one year away, the Oral History project is one of the many projects and events we are working on to help all of our ACBS members celebrate the milestone together.
If you prefer not to be contacted by PCI, call the ACBS HQ at 315-686-2628 to be removed from the contact list.
I have never owned an antique or classic boat, but I do admire the appearance of the old wooden designs. I am a home builder of wooden boats (13 so far) using classic designs for inspiration.
I don’t understand what you are asking me but I do have stories about my two wooden boats.
