The NorCal Chapter of ACBS was invited to attend the annual Sacramento Boat Show held at Cal Expo. Nine members – and their boats – trailered to this awesome event. Not only was there a lot of interest in their boats, the NorCal Chapter signed up three new members!
From an Amphicar, to a Mercurty to a Naptha Steam Launch Company Fantail, it was a great weekend!

Our Yacht, owned by Conmy and Carole Oamek.
Conmy Oamek and his wife, Carole, brought their 1964 Amphicar, Our Yacht.
You may remember Our Yacht featured in the Spring 2021 issue of ACBS Rudder (find it on the ACBS members-only accessed MyACBS.org. Says Conmy, “all Amphicars are “Model 770” and advertised to travel at 7 Knots in the water and 70 Miles Per Hour on land. They are powered by an 1147cc, 43 horsepower Triumph engine connected to a dual land/water transmission. Both rear wheels and /or the two propellers can run together or separately on land or in the water. The front wheels act as a rudder and the entire body is watertight, floating easily. Double seals and extra door locks keep the water out and a bilge pump can be activated when necessary. And yes, it is the same Amphicar used in two 1977 McDonald’s commercials!

Persistence with her restorers, Gary & Nita Minnis, formerly of Classic Craft Marine.
Persistence, owned by Mark Walick, was a surprise for Gary and Nita Minnis, formerly of Gary’s restoration company: Classic Craft Marine in Sacramento. Gary restored Persistence many years ago. She is a 1946 Mercury (with no relation to Mercury/Mercruiser engines).
The show was first class. A very big show, lots of neat displays took all day to see it all .
