This week’s featured ACBS chapter is Northern California/Lake Tahoe.
Clicking on Northern California/Lake Tahoe Chapter will take you to more information about this chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, show the events they have already posted for the coming year, and some news stories and pictures that have come from their chapter.
This chapter has the second largest chapter membership in the Antique and Classic Boat Society. Northern California/Lake Tahoe Chapter Chapter was the host chapter for the 2016 Annual ACBS Meeting and International Boat Show at Lake Tahoe. Many more pictures from that event and pre-event are in their fall issue of the chapter magazine Western Wood. You can view an online version on their chapter website.
Besides a variety of boating events in scattered locations around the central and northern part of the state, the Northern California/Lake Tahoe Chapter is known for their philanthropy program.
The Antique & Classic Boat Society Northern CA/Lake Tahoe is a 501c3 not for profit organization. We are one of 54 Chapters of an International organization. Our ACBS Chapter’s Mission and our not for profit status allow us to raise funds for our Endowment and each year make grants to deserving 501c3 organizations that are in support of our purpose.
In addition, up to 5% of the growth of the Chapter’s Endowment may be gifted. In 2015 we received 5 grant requests and were happy to partially fund all of those requests. The organizations are: Sea Scout Ship 245 Challenger, Sea Scout Ship 711, Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe, Thunderbird Preservation Society and the Tahoe Maritime Museum.
Always identified with a certain geographic region, chapters all seem to have their own personality, too. Find a chapter near you by zooming in on the Chapters’ Map.
