Palatka, Florida on the St. Johns River – the beginning and the end of a gorgeous day 2 !
More than 25 boats with 80 people stayed at the Quality Inn on Monday night and again on Tuesday night as part of the Southbound cruise which precedes the Sunnyland Chapter Boat Festival on Lake Dora in Tavares this weekend.
Each day begins with a Skippers Meeting and some written instructions for the day. Do you recognize anyone?
The 25 boats came in a variety of sizes and ages.
Pictured above is Captain Karen piloting Paul and Karen Harrison’s boat. Note the fingernail polish which matched yesterday’s sunglasses, the drinking cups for the crew and the upholstery of the boat. Though named the “Teal Team” in yesterday’s report, the color is described by Paul as Seafoam Green. Crew members Scott and Shannon have the opinion that it is Tiffany blue.
Following in the wake, the boats proceeded up Dunn’s Creek into Crescent Lake to Crescent City.
Lunch was hosted by Amy and Jeff Haston at their home on Crescent Lake.
On the return trip, many explored into Murphy Creek to look for wildlife. They found what makes Florida waters famous.
Thanks, once more, for the great pictures from Shannon Knight. We’d all like to be along for the ride with you.
Great river for boating
Thanks for the great coverage! I hope people enjoy what they see and make plans to join us next year!
We so enjoyed watching the parade of boats heading South on the St. Johns River as you all passed through the Whitehair Bridge in DeLand.
