This week’s Tuesday Tour of Vintage Boats is led by Riski, a 1960 Chris Craft ski boat owned by Brian Greenia, member of the Michigan chapter. Riski won a Silver Award in the Utility Class at the 2018 ACBS International Boat Show. Other awards include the best non-professional restoration and first place at the Hessel Show and Algonac Show.
Dennis Hansen, member of the Michigan chapter is looking for help to find the ownership history of his 1947 Chris Craft U-22. The boat was originally shipped to Cleveland, Ohio to a boat store that no longer exists. Dennis purchased the boat in 2012 in Petoskey, MI.
This 16-foot Truscott Truscotteer is owned by Eric Hansen, member of the Glacier Lakes chapter. It has the original Chrysler Ace Engine and is enjoyed each Summer in St. Joseph Michigan.
Truscott was a boat builder in St. Joseph, Michigan from 1894 to October 1948 when they went bankrupt. This boat was built in April of 1948. Truscott purchased Gar Wood hulls and parts when Gar Wood folded in 1947-1948.
A few past Gar Wood employees worked for Truscott as well. Truscott only lasted one more season. The boat “Truscott 16” is now back in St. Joseph, Michigan and is used on the river and lake where the Truscott Boat Factory was.
