The cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill form a triangle in central North Carolina which is known as the RDC Triangle.

This triangle is nestled between two good sized lakes, Jordan Lake and Falls Lake.  An Antique and Classic Boat Society Chapter was established there in 2005. Interest in membership in the RDC Triangle Chapter quickly included the coastal areas of Virginia and North Carolina.

The RDC Chapter holds monthly meetings in Durham and sponsors two major boating events each year.  The Annual Chapter Boat Show is in May at New Bern, North Carolina on the Neuse River.  See the report and pictures of this year’s event by clicking here.

They will hold a Vintage Boat & Sea Plane Splash In Rally on September 16th at Lake Gaston.  Sounds like a “roaring good time.”

Lots of action with  sea planes buzzing and boats roaring on a beautiful Fall day. It is an all day event at the Lake Gaston Resort with food and kids activities available.

The RDC Chapter provides an annual scholarship for a student in the Wooden Boat Building Program of the Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, NC. The recipient is also invited to be part of the celebration at the New Bern Show in May.

Beginning in November 2015 the RDC Triangle Chapter has made a yearly donation of $1,000 to the Cape Fear Community College to provide financial assistance to a student enrolled there in the wooden boat building program. Show proceeds in excess of expenses are used to provide this type of assistance.

54 International Chapters of ACBS

The Antique and Classic Boat Society has 54 Chapters throughout the United States, Canada, and France. ACBS members who affiliate with a home chapter find a group of friends with whom to share boating experiences, boat stories, and the skills needed to maintain and/or preserve and restore their vintage boats.  Inevitably, the genuine relationships formed at the chapter level are always mentioned when an ACBS member is asked why they value their ACBS membership.

When you click on the CHAPTERS tab in the menu above, a world map will appear showing the location of the ACBS Chapters.  Which one is closest to you?  Or maybe there is a chapter near the lake where you vacation that has an event scheduled which you could attend.

Please share information about your chapter.  Anyone can do that.  You may email pictures and text to kathyparker@acbs.org.
